The tiny province of Ang Thong (Golden Bowl) sits in the fertile plains of central Thailand, embraced by two rivers that enrich the soil making it one of the most fertile agricultural areas in the nation. Although it boasts the largest reclining Buddha image and many fine temples, it is seldom a part of most traveler is itinerary. The attractions can easily be seen in one day, making it a pleasant stopping over place for visitors heading to or returning from the north.

Wat Khun Inthapramun

This temple is situated in Amphoe Pho Thong, about 7 km from the township. The temple enshrines a 50 m Reclining Buddha. In front of the image is the statue of Khun In Pramun, the man who redirected official money for the enlargement of the original 40m image.

Wat Pa Mok

Located about 18 km from the city centre is this rather impressive royal grade monastery. The temple is named after the mok trees, which are in abundance in the area. The Sukhothai period temple is in fact two neighbouring temples that were later merged into one during the Ayudhaya period. The temple houses a 22.58 m long Reclining Buddha, facing west.
